Sedona Fire District New Board Starts Wednesday

New Sedona Fire District Governing Board members elected Tuesday, May 15, 2012, will be sworn in one week from their successful bid in a recall election that replaced three currently-seated board members.

Diane Schoen will replace David Blauert. Verde Valley Fire District Chief Nazih Hazime, who lives in the Sedona Fire District, takes Charles Christensen’s seat; and Corrie Cooperman supplants Phyllis Erick.

Here’s the step-by-step for transferring power to the newly-elected candidates who will join remaining Board Members Ty Montgomery and Craig Dible.

  1. Ratification of Election
    Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 3:00 pm Business Meeting
    to ratify the election results, technically called a “Canvass of Recall Election from Official Results of Yavapai and Coconino Counties,” at Station #1 Multipurpose Room, 2860 Southwest Drive, West Sedona.
  2. Swearing In
    Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 5:00 pm Ceremonial Swearing In of the newly-elected candidates at the same location specified above. Board members must be sworn in at least 24 hours before they perform any official actions.
  3. Getting to Work
    Wednesday
    May 23, 2012, 6:00 pm Board Meeting will the three newly-elected board members combined with the two sustaining board members at Station #1 Multipurpose Room, 2860 Southwest Drive, West Sedona.

Congratulations to the newly-elected board members and best wishes as you meld with your peers into a cohesive group that will do your best for the 168 square miles that is the Sedona Fire District.

To the outgoing members: thank you for your service, your good intentions and whatever you may have accomplished that is of lasting value to the district.
